What a tile and grout cleaning involves
Tile and grout cleaning is a machine job. The grout lines get a pre-treatment that soaks in; a rotary or pressurized tool then scrubs them, and the soil that comes loose is rinsed off and vacuumed up. The work covers ceramic and porcelain tile on floors and counters and in showers. Because grout is porous and set slightly lower than the tile face, it catches soil that a mop drives into it, and in a shower it also holds the minerals water leaves behind as it dries.

The City of Camarillo’s supply was hard in its 2024 report, its wells (with the desalter) and its imported water alike; Camrosa Water District’s wells ran much harder in 2025; and Oxnard’s water averaged about 419 mg/L in 2025, very hard. The hard water guide has the numbers for each.

Questions about tile and grout cleaning
Tile and grout cleaning in Camarillo: what does it cost?
Typical national cost range, not a quote: $0.50–$3 per square foot; some companies quote a flat $300–$500 for a room of 150 to 250 square feet, and others add a $100–$200 call-out minimum; cleaning and sealing together $1.50–$2.50 per square foot. Maid VIP estimate: about $0.50–$3 per square foot. Maid VIP confirms the price before any work.
Is it worth sealing grout after a cleaning?
For ordinary cement grout, usually: sealing slows the rate at which soil and hard-water minerals work their way in, and Fixr’s national figures have a standard grout sealant costing $0.90 to $1.73 per square foot. Your cleaner can say what kind of grout you have.
Can the same products clean travertine?
No. On ceramic tile, acidic cleaners dissolve mineral film, but on travertine, marble and other natural stone they etch the surface, so stone gets stone-safe products and a separate price.
