Wood floor cleaning in Camarillo
Hardwood floor cleaning is the scrubbing and drying of hard floors: solid and engineered wood, laminate and vinyl plank. About half of Camarillo’s homes date from before 1980, and where an older wood floor’s finish has worn thin, a wet cleaning can reach the bare wood, so mention the floor’s age when you book.

What a wood floor cleaning involves
A professional wood floor cleaning works on the finish, not the wood. The first pass lifts loose grit; next, a pH-neutral cleaner gets scrubbed along the boards with a machine or a microfiber pad, and the dirty solution is taken back up instead of being left to dry in the seams. The same approach suits engineered wood, laminate and vinyl plank. Sanding, recoating and refinishing are different jobs, done by flooring companies.
On the day
Loose grit taken up first, by vacuum or dust mop
A pH-neutral cleaner chosen for the finish
Scrubbing with the grain by machine or microfiber pad
The used solution picked up, then microfiber and airflow to dry the floor
Companies differ on what a visit covers, so agree on what is included, and on the total, before any work begins; the extras are in the price table.

Tell the cleaner how old the floor is, especially in an older house in Old Town: a worn finish can let the cleaner’s solution reach bare wood, and the wood floor guide explains when a floor needs refinishing instead.

The cleaning price is a published starting estimate (Homewyse, cost to clean wood floors (the page’s January 2026 figures)), and the refinishing figure a national one (Angi, hardwood floor refinishing cost (2026 data)), both read October 2026. Neither is a quote. Maid VIP’s estimate comes from its own website: Maid VIP, service estimates (Maid VIP shares owners with this site). Signs it’s time
- The traffic paths look dull and mopping doesn’t change them
- Oil soap or the wrong cleaner has left a cloudy film
- Grit ground into the floor in the kitchen or by the entry
- A move-out or a sale coming up

Questions about hardwood floor cleaning
What does wood floor cleaning cost in Camarillo?
Published starting estimate, not a quote: $0.49–$0.61 per square foot, Homewyse’s January 2026 starting estimate; refinishing is separate flooring work. Maid VIP estimate: about $0.40–$0.80 per square foot. Maid VIP confirms the price before any work.
Is it safe to use a steam mop on wood floors?
No. Steam forces heat and moisture into the boards and into the seams between them. The National Wood Flooring Association’s Brett Miller says to keep steam mops off hardwood, even when the literature that comes with the mop calls it safe.
Does the same service clean laminate and vinyl plank?
Yes, using a cleaner suited to each surface; Stanley Steemer’s hardwood service, for example, also covers engineered wood, laminate and vinyl plank.
When is cleaning not enough?
Once the finish is worn down to bare wood, or the boards have deep scratches. Refinishing, which means sanding the floor and putting down a new finish, runs $3–$8 per square foot on Angi’s figures. That makes it flooring work: unless the job falls within the state’s minor-work exemption, whose first two conditions are a job total below $1,000 and work that needs no building permit, the person you hire needs a Contractors State License Board license.
